The Salt Lick Cafe was so named because when the theater was built, the deer would come and feed at a salt lick on the property.
Chilled drinks, bottled water, hot and iced tea, Deertrees’ special blend coffee, delicious cookies and section of home-made ‘goodies’ plus wine, beers and canned cocktails are available. Refreshments at the Salt Lick Cafe & Bar are available one hour before show time and at intermission. Come enjoy our SALT LICK CABARET SERIES on select Thursday Evenings. Join us for drinks, songs, and comedy in our
art gallery space!
Did you know the large barn doors that open at the end of the legendary holiday film WHITE CHRISTMAS were incorporated into the film after two of the film’s set designers had been to Deertrees Theatre in Maine? The director of the film wanted to be able to showcase that it had started to snow but were stumped how to achieve this. As luck would have it, the set designers told them “we know how to do that like a summer theatre in Maine does during their operas and plays opening up these large barn doors behind the stage to showcase nature and the deer outside!”
